Celebrities and beauty experts got together on Saturday night in Baden-Baden, where the Gruner + Jahr people and lifestyle magazine GALA and the Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa presented the 2016 GALA Spa Awards to honor the best international beauty concepts and spas.
The expert jury did not have an easy task in this the twentieth year of the awards: with more than 170 submissions, the number of applications was higher than ever before.
Over 200 invited guests from the realms of business, culture and show business along with renowned representatives of the cosmetics industry and luxury hotel industry got together at the Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa. Among the celebrity guests at the event were Eva Padberg, Stephanie Stumph, Ursula Karven, Catherine Hummels, Julia Dietze, Jorge Gonzalez, Franziska Knuppe, Stefan Konarske, Lisa Martinek, Erol Sander, Jochen Schropp, Carolina Vera and Birthe Wolter. Presenter Barbara Schöneberger hosted the evening, and singer Philipp Dittberner performed.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell was honored as "Beauty Idol" 2016. The 45 year-old celebrated her 25th catwalk anniversary last year. This year’s "Special Prize" went to Michael Braungart, who is committed to the conservation of resources and the eco-effectiveness of products. With a graduate degree in chemistry, Braungart has been actively engaged with Greenpeace since the 1980s and established the environmental research and consulting institute EPEA in 1987
